The décor may be unusually trippy (gilded walls, blue fairy lights, and even a pair of disembodied mannequin legs), but you don't have to be a surrealist to enjoy this romantic, upscale Somerville eatery's exciting menu of 40 tapas and 9 authentic Spanish entrees. For the uninitiated, tapas, loosely translated as “appetizers,” are savory little dishes to share; count on ordering 2-3 per person. Sample the mushroom-stuffed artichoke hearts ($7.50) or the pato braseado (roast duckling with berry sauce, $7.50). If you'd rather stick to a single dish, paella is always a classic ($24). Don't forget the famous sangria or the impressive Spanish wines and ports. And for dessert, the consistently appearing “monthly special” of strawberries in vanilla sherry butter with ice cream ($7.50) is heavenly. Tapas $4-8.50; entrees $17-24. Arrive early, as Dalí doesn't accept reservations—after 6pm, even Salvador himself would have to wait.
